Kicking off the birthday season

We kicked of the 2 year old birthday season today with Raegan's birthday! She had a bounce house at her party.  It was Olivia's first time and my first time for a bounce house.  She loved it! It was really fun! We had some snacks and cake while we were there.  Raegan was not a fan of everyone singing Happy Birthday! We had a fun time with our friends!

Bounce house fun!

I was supposed to run a trail half marathon this morning.  But over the last day it has rained over 2.5 inches.  I was really unsure about it.  When I got there I could see the massive puddles on the trail.  I admit I am not the most experienced trail runner and probably the most uncoordinated person that ever existed.  After talking to someone I made the decision not to do it.  It was so wet...if it was a 5K no problem...30 minutes or less and you are done...but going 2+ hours with those conditions...no thanks.  Not worth breaking anything or getting sick.  So as disappointed as I am about it, I am ok with it too.  There will always be other races!

We also went to church today.  Olivia talked almost the ENTIRE time.  As much as it is cute, it is embarrassing too.  But we made it to church! We haven't been in a few weeks with all the germies we have had.

Where's your socks?

This morning I got to sleep in since Malissa and I switched today.  I went and got Olivia when she woke up and the first thing she noticed was that I had no socks on.  She said, "Where's your socks?" Then she helped me find my slippers.  She ate a whole waffle for breakfast and we got to play for a bit this morning before I went to work.  Brendon and Olivia went grocery shopping.  She loves shopping! When I got home she was still sleeping but woke up crying =( But she got happy in a few minutes.  We ate dinner and played like always.  A fun Friday girly night!

23 Months Old

I really don't know how 23 months have flown by.  We are going to the be the parents of a 2 year old! That is crazy to me.  We are so blessed to have such a sweet and happy little girl.  Her giggles melt your heart and the craziest things come out of her mouth.

Her are some things she is doing at 23 months old:
* Pretty much going up and down the stairs unassisted.  She will ask to hold our hands sometimes to go down.
* Finally likes to walk and hold my hand.
* Speaking in more phrases- I hear it, I hear airplane, I see the school bus, Don't want it, Talk to Pepa, Where is Pepa? Mommy go to work, Daddy go to work...
* Loves her friends... she loves to talk about Griffin- she says he is playing basketball, she also loves Ethan.  She saw her friend Raegan last week and it was cute to watch them play together.
* Becoming a better eater... some days.  Hands down she loves veggies, she loves toast for breakfast, loves Chicken Noodle Soup.
* Super Helper- likes to sweep, vacuum, dust, put stuff away, cleans up her toys when asked
* Loves to color!
* Getting better at going to bed and sitting in her big girl chair for meals.
* Has an opinion about clothes...what she would like to wear and NOT wear!
* Pretend play- calls her friends, plays with her animals, plays with her Little People
* Knows her ABCs and some of her numbers, she can rote count them and identify some of them
* Using adjectives- big truck, big blue truck, big bite, little bite, heavy, it is cold, it is hot, knows her colors
* Still loves books- her favorites right now are Baby Bear, Baby Bear what do you see?, Dogs, Dogs, Dogs, ABC Dr. Seuss book and still loves Charlie Brown!
* We are working on jumping and hopping...this girl needs to get some air under her feet!! She is trying though!

So mad that this came out blurry! The only way to get her not to move....wrap her up like a mummy after her bath!!

Getting better!

Olivia is feeling much better. Her nose is not as runny, there were still a few hives here and there, and her cough was very minimal....no coughing before bed, during the night, or when she woke up this morning.  Brendon took her to Gymboree and she had a good time!

We ate grilled cheese sandwiches together for lunch and played a bit before her nap.  She finally took a nap today.  Then we colored and watched Super Why after her nap.  After her nap I whipped up some banana bread.  I asked her if she wanted to help and she said no.  As soon as she saw me mixing the last bit of it she wanted to help.  At that point I was basically pouring it into the pan.  Dinner was ok...she ate some veggies and some rice, and a few pieces of banana bread.  I went in the closet to get Jake a bone...I could see that he was itching for trouble...she saw her apron and wanted to put it on! Finally!! Every time we bake I see if she wants to put it on and she says no.  Finally she wore it today...even though it was after I baked...but she wore it a good 20 minutes!

Super cute in her apron!

100 Weeks Old

I received my weekly email from Mom365 yesterday with the title 100 weeks old.  How crazy is that??? Olivia is 100 weeks old... that means in 4 weeks it is her birthday! Crazy!!

Olivia is doing a bit better.  This afternoon not much of a nap she was coughing quite a bit and having a grand old time talking.  Finally she cried and I went to get her.  She had her foot stuck at the top of her sleep sack.  She had a snack and then we colored.  She kept asking me to draw a seal.  To my knowledge Olivia has never seen a seal...maybe at the aquarium last year but I can't even remember.  So I texted Brendon and he told me there was a seal in her animal crackers today! Ha! Then I when I changed her diaper I noticed some hives on her legs! Ahh... I tried calling the doctor but their phone is still not working.  So then I called the insurance company nurse line...after all the questions...they told me to call her doctor (hello...I told you their phone isn't working!!!) or take her to an urgent care.  I decided to try the other office and thankfully even thought it was 5:01 someone answered.  They said the hives could last for 2 weeks.  To keep up the Benadryl until we notice they go away.  But if they get really bad seek medical attention...scary! But tonight I maybe blew her nose less than 10 times and she was really good through all the medicines.  I think doing all the medicines takes longer than taking a bath.

After her bath she asked to watch Charlie Brown...I gave in.  She doesn't feel good and if that made her feel better so be it... so we watched a short Charlie Brown movie.  Then we had to tuck in all of her dolls.  She lines them all up and then covers them with a blanket, gives them a kiss, and tells them goodnight.  I think we are up to about 10 stuffed animals and dolls tonight...even the plastic lobster got tucked in.  But I hope she feels even better tomorrow!!

The shirt says it all!

Whirlwind of a Day

It was a crazy day today needless to say.  I was supposed to go for a nice 8 mile trail run with Malissa this morning BUT Olivia woke up about 6:30 and was coughing and coughing and coughing.  So I tried going in her room and rocking her to see if that would help with the coughing.  Well then she just wanted to be up.  Finally after about 20 minutes I brought her in our bed.  By that point I made the decision not to run and call the pediatrician instead.  Finally when it was time to call their phone was not working!! I called their other location and they said to just bring Olivia in and be patient and wait.  So we got dressed and got out the door.  Thankfully we didn't have to wait too long...about 5 minutes.  The nurse practitioner examined her and I thought she would give us something for the cough and congestion...well she looked at Olivia's ears and the right ear was dull and had some fluid and she said the left her definitely had an ear infection to the point that it was bloody! YIKES! I felt like the worst mom ever! I didn't even know my own child had a REALLY BAD ear infection.  She never complained or pulled on it or even said ear hurt.  We got our prescriptions and went to Publix to get them filled.  We walked around the store a bit and Olivia pointed out all sorts of foods.

We came home and had lunch and she ate pretty decent...her favorite Chicken Noodle soup, yogurt, and some apples.  Then her and Brendon did the backyard bird count.  He put her down for a nap and I went for my run.  When I got home, he said that she was coughing a lot and had not fallen asleep.  So I showered and tried to get her to nap with me sitting in her glider.  That didn't work...again.  So I took off her sleep sack and that's when I noticed the hives... ALL OVER.  Legs, feet, arms, face, belly, bum...everywhere.  I tried to call the doctor...phone still not working so...I just put her back into the car and went back.  I really didn't know what else to do.  So we went back and wow they acted fast...got the doctor and literally we took off her pants in the hallway.  They gave her some Benadryl and a new prescription for basically a Z-Pack but for children.  So I guess we are allergic to Penicillin! GREAT! Well at least we know now... we thought that she was having contact hives a few months ago and she was taking some meds then too.  But just after the one dose of it today...hives.  So back to Publix we went and the pharmacists there are so awesome.  She got our prescription ready super fast and we were out of there.

Such a crazy day though.  I hope Olivia feels better tomorrow! She was still playing and acting normal though today.

Valentine's Brunch 2013

Today we had our Valentine brunch/party at Griffin's house! Olivia was so excited to see Griffin and all of her friends.  We ate a little bit at home and then off we zoomed to Griffin's new house! His new house is gorgeous and his playroom is AMAZING! I wish we could have a space like that for Olivia.  She loved playing in his playhouse and with all his toys.  He had lots of trucks and tractors which were fun to play with.  We ate lots of goodies...Brendon really like the Italian Breakfast Strata (so much so he already found the recipe for it) and I loved the French Toast Casserole (which believe it or not I already had the recipe for).  It was so fun to get together with our friends and see all of the kids.  Olivia loves seeing all of her friends so much! It will be birthday season soon so we will get to see them more often!  Such a fun day!
