More Rain

It rained again today.  This makes 4 days straight.  It is depressing and I need some vitamin D from the sun.  Tonight there is even a possibility of some snow...great! Yes a teacher does love a good snow day but sometimes I would rather just go and have the days later off that we are supposed to get off.  I am not getting my hopes up at all for a snow day.  I think I am more worried about the ice than anything.  Our driveway is steep so getting up it is a challenge.

Olivia and I had a pretty good day.  Long but good.  She went to Susan's house today and was great.  After I picked her up I needed to get some things at Kroger.  Well it was like Forrest Gump rain on the way there.  Rain was coming in all directions.  I went to the Kroger close to Susan's house which is like 5 minutes from her house and I thought Olivia was awake because she kept asking for animal crackers.  Well I pull in the parking spot and she is zonked out! So what does every good mom do...keep driving! I decided to not wake her up and drive home and go to the Kroger close to home.  So Olivia had a pretty good nap- about 30 minutes.  By the time we got groceries and gas and got home it was about 1:45.  By the time we got everything unpacked and put away it was 2:00.  At that point she wanted to watch Super Why which was on.  So I thought I may put her down after that...well she didn't seem sleepy so I just kept her up.  I really didn't feel like dealing with all the crying.  So needless to say she was pretty tired when she went to bed tonight!

Getting ready to leave this morning! So cute in her raincoat!
I bought a Little People Village, 2 Fisher Price doll houses, and a Fisher Price airport off of a friend! Guess who LOVES it! I admit I do too!!

Hurry Up!

Whenever we are in a hurry, we take forever! Everything takes longer with a toddler in tow.  We had a couple of stops to make before Gymboree today so we needed to hurry up and leave.  Of course it took Olivia forever to eat lunch...but she did eat! I can't complain about that.  So we went to Publix and got a few things and she was great.  She loves shopping! Lots of people always complement us on her hair.  I think one old lady kind of scared Olivia a bit today because she leaned way far away from the lady as she gave her a compliment about her curls.  Then we were off to Target.  Got a few more things...and this girl loves some Target too.  Then we made it to Gymboree just in time! Olivia had fun with her friends today.  I am impressed with her balance skills- she can walk on this little balance beam thing with no problem! Then we came home and had diner and she just about cleared her plate! I guess she finally realized that eating can be good.

My Plan Was...

I should get a tattoo of that phrase or I should never say that phrase or come up with a plan again.  Every time I have a to do list or something that needs to get done while Olivia naps...she doesn't nap! Ahhh! It was madness.  We tried for over an hour today to get her down.  We tried crying it out, we both tried going in, I even resorted to rocking her, and I even tried pretending to take a nap on her floor.  Didn't work.  The was a mix of things she did- cry, sing, say her letters, numbers, peoples' names, places and other random things.  Finally I gave up.  It was a L-O-N-G afternoon! So needless to say whatever I didn't get done...I need to do now...oh joy.

Edit:  Saw this on Facebook...this is the story of my life... in no way is this to offend any of our friends who don't have kids...but I do like the author's explanation...

Super Eater and Play-Doh

Brendon said Olivia was a super eater this morning.  She ate almost a whole piece of toast and yogurt for breakfast and had a snack.  Then she ate her whole lunch with 2 cookies! That makes me happy when she eats!

Letter in her puzzle and Leap Pad Letters!

Before her nap today I decided to try Play-Doh with her.  I admit I was nervous.  Susan did a snowman craft with it last week and gave me some extra.  It has been sitting on the kitchen table and Olivia hasn't even noticed it.  We sat at her little table and I got some cookie cutter letters out.  I rolled it out and we started making letters.  She did such a great job! She was pushing down the letters and saying letters and didn't try to eat it.  I was a happy mom!

Play-Doh!

Later in the day after her nap and snack we were coloring and she put the crayon in her mouth and bit off a tiny piece of crayon.  I think she learned her lesson because it did not taste good.  I helped her get it out of her mouth...it was tiny...like smaller than a crumb but still she didn't like it.  Jake decided he wanted to eat a crayon too...but I caught him too.  Jake did have to take a little time out tonight in his crate.  He tried to eat the crayon, eat some of Olivia's toys, and the final straw was he went after her dinner...Olivia had a hard time with keeping Jake in time out but finally she left him alone and she told him to be good.

Hot Chocolate Race and Sunday Funday

Today started early at 4:15 for me.  My friends and I left for the Hot Chocolate race at 5:15. It was a pretty big race for a 5K and 15K.  It was more of a novelty fun race than anything.  It was too crowded to get a good pace going and I didn't really feel all that well this morning.  I still didn't feel the greatest when I got home either but I feel better now.  We had a really good time at the race and got a plastic mug with all sorts of things to dip in chocolate and a cup of hot chocolate.  I tossed the hot chocolate...it was too warm plus my stomach was already yuck anyways.  We got home around 11ish so it wasn't too bad.

Hot Chocolate 5K

Brendon went for a bike ride and Olivia and I had lunch.  Then it was nice outside so we went and played outside.  We went and visited our neighbors.  Karyn's mom is in town from Switzerland and brought Olivia some really cute clothes from H & M in Switzerland.  I can't wait for her to wear them...they are in her hamper to be washed.

Then it was nap time for Olivia and me. I was tired and so was she! She slept until about 4:30 when we woke her up but I slept until about 2:30 and still did not feel well!

Brendon made some killer food on the smoker- ribs and a turkey breast! It was yummy! Olivia and I made chocolate chip cookie bars! She is such a good helper.  She poured some stuff in the bowl and put the chocolate chips in the bowl.  She tried to mix it and everything.  I really like that she likes baking with me.  I know I used to help my mom too!
