Toddler Tantrum

Brendon and I witnessed our very first toddler tantrum today by Olivia.  I admit it was a pretty good performance. Let's recap the day:

* She woke up early....and then we got up a bit later to go to Susan's house.
* Brendon and I had a trail run date...boy was it hot and I really stunk in my running performance!
* Picked Olivia up from Susan's and she fell asleep in the car.
* Woke up when we got home.  Then she just melted down from there...it was a hot mess.

There were tears, and screaming, and laying on the ground.  I think she was just tired.  We tried a few things...Brendon took her outside...that didn't work.  Then we just let her scream and cry it out.  There was nothing that we could do to console her.  I finally scooped her up and she sat with me.  Then I asked her if she wanted some of my sandwich...which she ate half of and had some other stuff too.  Then we brushed our teeth and napped.  Then life was good.

Olivia did poop her pants again tonight...but hey..she pooped! Then after her bath when I was blow drying her hair I found a tick! It was at the base of her neck! Yuck! I didn't see it when I gave her the bath so it came from somewhere though...gross! Yuck, yuck, yuck! I hate ticks!

Library, Park, Picnic, and Pool

I took Olivia to a musical story time this morning.  She really enjoyed it.  She heard the story Little Red Riding Hood, a puppet song, and a Dr. Seuss book.  There is a nice little park next to the library so we played for a little bit and then had a picnic lunch.

After we got home we napped and soon as she woke up she said it is time to swim.  Brendon is working on our pool deck so I put water in her kiddie pool.  We played in that for a bit and then she pooped! Thank goodness she wasn't sitting in the water.  Needless to say she didn't want to swim anymore!

She ate a great dinner and then we played outside for a bit. We took Lamby for a stroller ride and played with chalk.  I even made a little hopscotch pattern and we hopped on the squares and numbers.

We had a great day today!

Good Wednesday

We had a great Wednesday today.  I went for a run and Brendon got a bike ride in.  We are so tired of the rain and need some sunshine.  Olivia was pretty happy today.  We played outside a bit.  She helped me with her laundry- she puts her socks and underwear away! Sometimes she will put her shorts away too!  Then we had lunch and a nap.  After nap we got ready for Gymboree and had dinner with Griffin and Leo.  Gymboree was fun and Olivia had a good time climbing and jumping.  Hope tomorrow is just as good as today!

9 Year Anniversary

Today is our anniversary! Can't believe it has been 9 years...that seems so long ago.  Brendon had some training during the day which meant he would be home for dinner! YAY!

Olivia and I went to the Grayson library this morning.  I really wanted to go to get a library card and get some books.  When I got there they told me there was a story time going on.  So we tiptoed in and got a seat.  The theme was dinosaurs and after the stories Olivia got a dinosaur stamp and made a dinosaur puppet.  Then we got our library card and got some books.  Of course we had to get Curious George books! Then we came home for lunch and a nap.

Brendon had an awful ride home in the rain but we still went out for dinner.  We went to Frontera since it is close by.  It was yummy!! Then we came home for dessert and presents.  This years gift was leather...I got Brendon a new wallet and he got me a new address book! I know that doesn't sound too exciting for gifts but we both needed them!

My mom sent us this great card and here is what it said inside:

A marriage is measured by more than just years- it's measured by living, by laughter, and tears...by good times, contentment, and dreams that come true...and also by hard times that love brings you through. A marriage is greater than simply the sum of all you've accomplished and how far you've come...it's people whose lives you have touched in some way and values you've stood for and lived day by day. A marriage is measured by lessons you've learned, examples you've set, and respect you have earned. It's forged in the balance of partnership, friendship, and love all combined.

Thanks mom for the great card! It says everything that a marriage should have!

Father's Day 2013

Olivia must have been excited about Father's Day...she woke up at 6:05 a.m.  We tried to get her back to sleep with us and that didn't work.  Finally about 7:30 we got up and started getting ready for church.

Olivia was pretty good at church.  She just had to bring Lamby today.  I noticed today that Lamby is losing fur...Olivia is going to be so sad when Lamby falls apart.  After church we came home and tried to get a picture by the apple trees...it was really bright though.  Then we made daddy pumpkin pancakes and I guess Olivia was pretty hungry because she ate almost a whole pancake and a sausage!  Then we gave daddy his gifts! He loved everything!!

Then we got ready for our guests.  We had our neighbors over to swim and eat.  I decided to try to get Olivia down and she did sleep for about 2 hours...she wasn't very happy when she woke up but she was ok.  She got really shy around the Korems at first but finally warmed up and played.  We ate very well tonight...beer can chicken (Olivia says, daddy's good chicken), salad, pasta salad, baked beans, corn, and I made the skillet pie and Karyn brought the butter pecan ice cream.  It was so nice to have them over for dinner!

Olivia finally saw the baby bunnies tonight...they are sooooo cute!!!

Look closely and you will see 3 of them!

Finally at about 8 pm I got Olivia to say, "Happy Father's Day!" She kept wanting to say Happy Birthday!
