Friday...a day of snuggles

It was freezing cold today! I think when i left work it was actually colder than when I got there in the morning.  There was even some ice on my car.  It never did sleet/rain here at the house that I saw.  It was just cold.  But it is supposed to be warmer tomorrow.  The cold just makes me sleepy though. Olivia has been extra snuggly too! I even taught her the word snuggle and she actually snuggled under the blanket this afternoon.

Olivia and I had a great lunch together.  She ate her soup- this child loves soup! Then we played a bit and then we both napped.  Brendon took her grocery shopping this morning and they had fun at Kroger.  We played after her nap and she actually sat in her chair for dinner! It was a miracle...I didn't have to chase her around.  For not chasing her around I gave her one Oreo mint cookie...which was yummy to her.

I forgot to mention this in her 22 month update or else I can't remember...she knows her full name! She also knows the name of our street, the city we live in, and our state!

Can't wait to have a weekend with no real plans- just some odds and ends and I hope to get a runs on Saturday (short run) and Sunday (longer run)...that is my goal...I hope!

Muskick

Muskick- that is what Olivia calls music! Tonight we started our spring session of Kindermusik.  Olivia was very excited all day to go...so excited she wouldn't nap! She went through all the motions of going to nap...she had a great conversation and then all of a sudden she burst into tears.  Then at that point I didn't even bother to put her back down.  So we had a long afternoon and I of course had a long to do list.  But she was very excited to see Ms. Dana and kept talking about a boy named Jacob in the class.  She was a little quiet at class- she fell asleep on the way to class.  I think she was just tired.  But she had fun.  Daddy joined us at class because I had to leave and go to a school function.  I got home just in time to get Olivia down for bed.

Here is a funny video of her talking before she started screaming...she is talking about Goofy, Donald, Daisy and some other random things!

Another Haircut

Today we went for another haircut.  I thought I just took her a few weeks ago but I guess it was longer than that.  Her bangs were in her face.  Olivia did a great job! She sat in the Barbie jeep and got her bangs cut.  Then the hair stylist gave her a little side braid.  It was her first! She looked so cute!

We also went to Gymboree today and saw our friends.  I guess Griffin has been asking for Olivia! So sweet! I am so glad that our friends remember us when we are not around.  I love how they are making friendships.  She even said bye to Griffin as we were leaving and gave Kenny a high five!

We had an ordinary night and played with the Little People after dinner.  She loves the house.  She tells the people to go potty, wash your laundry, take a nap, computer, I taught her to say check your email.  It is so funny to watch her play and the things she says.
Her first braid!
Not the best face but playing with her Little People House!

22 Months Old (Yesterday)

Olivia was officially 22 months old yesterday but I didn't have the time to post about that.

Olivia has definitely has become more aware of the world around here.  She knows routines and what comes next.  Now at nighttime before bed, she turns on her fan and the baby monitor.  She even has her routine too- throw all her animals in the bed, brush her teeth, and get her Winnie the Pooh diaper on.

At church on Sunday she had her first crack at singing.  When the church was singing song she was making noise- just humming but that was her first time trying to hum along to a song she didn't know-b ut she said, "I singing!"She can sing her ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, Row your boat, Pattycake, and some other tunes.

Olivia is more verbal than ever.  She is still a little parrot.  She will refer to herself as I when she talks about herself.  She will tell you what she wants and doesn't want.

Olivia is still a pretty good helper.  She helps unload the dishwasher, helps put laundry in the dryer, helps sort clothes in the laundry basket, clean up her toys, and she will wipe her picnic table.

Olivia is doing some of her own maintenance.  She will ask for a washcloth to wipe her face and hands and will do it.  We are working at getting her shoes off...some are easier than others.  We are practicing getting other items of clothes off- jacket, pants, shirts.

Olivia still loves to read...we must have gone through 50 books on the car ride.

Olivia has her favorite t.v. show- Super Why! She loves that show...and asks for it repeatedly.  She also likes Curious George, Clifford, and Sesame Street still.

Olivia recognizes her friends- Griffin, Ethan, Karson, Leo, Nikki etc.  She even asks me to call them.  "Call Griffin mommy!" Yesterday she was playing with her pretend cell phone and was talking to Griffin and Ethan.  It was hilarious.

Pretend play- this has become more apparent lately.  She takes care of her baby- feeds it, tries to change diapers etc.  The Little People town and houses we got has made this explode.  She played a good 15 minutes today all by herself...just talking away to the Little People and making them do all sorts of stuff- ride in cars, take naps, etc.

Her fine motor skills have gotten better- picking up crumbs, drawing- circles, lines, says she is drawing Mickey Mouse, now is asking me to draw letters.

Olivia knows the whole alphabet- capital letters and almost all of the lowercase letters- she gets p, b, d, and q a little confused still.  She knows her number 1-13.  I don't know what it is about thirteen but she won't count past it.

We have gotten skunked on the potty training lately but I think she is just cold and doesn't want to sit on the potty seat.  We will keep trying though.  I am not going to push the issue- but she does tell us when she poops!

We are still working on the sleep issues.  I am still going in with her at night...she even tells me to lay down on the ladybug pillow.  Today she didn't nap so she was pretty tired by bedtime.

Eating has become an issue- at least with me.  She sits all nice for Brendon in the high chair or big girl chair.  Tonight and usually every night I chase her around the dinner table or wherever to get her to eat.  It is super annoying and not fun!

But she is growing up soooooo fast!!  Ahh... 2 more months until her birthday!

Trip to Florida

This weekend we took a quick trip to Florida to see Olivia's grandparents.  We left Friday afternoon after I got home from work.  We had a very LONG ride.  We thought Olivia would sleep a bit on the way down.  But she only slept about 45 minutes of almost an 8 hour ride.  So I kept her entertained with books and her favorite Super Why show.  We even snuck a little Charlie Brown and Goodnight Moon in there too.  We had to stop a few times- diaper changes and to eat.  But we made it there around 9 p.m. Olivia had some milk and a snack and went to bed.

The next morning we woke up and had breakfast.  Then we went for a walk around the place where Olivia's grandparents live.  We got to see alligators, lots of birds, and squirrels.  On our walk Olivia fell twice and got some skinned up knees.  She was pretty tough though and didn't cry too much.  We then had lunch and went for a boat ride.  We were so nervous that we weren't going to be able to go since we tried to get her in the life vest at home and she didn't like it.  But she fussed for a minutes and once I got in the boat she was actually fine.  So fine she fell asleep!! We saw lots of birds and trees on our boat ride.  We saw one alligator that was pretty big.  Then we came home and napped.  Then we had dinner with Olivia's great grandparents.  They even squeezed some fishing time in.  Of course they caught fish before Olivia came out and then didn't catch anything.  Olivia put on a great running show for everyone after dinner!

Then next morning we went to church.  Olivia did lots of talking of course in church.  We got a few smiles from people at church...glad they think it is funny.  After church we had some breakfast and then got ready to visit Kara.  Kara lives about an hour and a half from Brendon's parents and it wasn't a bad ride at all.  We were very excited to meet baby Keller.  I can't believe that Olivia used to be a tiny baby like that.  He was napping when we got there so we had some lunch and watch some hockey.  Then I got to feed Keller for a bit! He is so cute! He even rolled over for us when we were there.  Olivia played with Murphy and he took her for a ride in his friend's motorized Jeep and she LOVED it.  We have heard a lot about Murphy....I guess she really liked him.  It was so great to visit with all of them!!

We woke up today and got all packed to come home.  It was another long ride.  This ride included two changes of pants for Olivia...her diaper leaked...twice! Huggies!! Ugh....she wore Pampers on the way down...guess we know from now on....no Huggies in the car seat! Then Olivia wanted out of the car seat...several times.  Then when we got close to home she really wanted out...and cried about the last 10 minutes.  She was fine once we got home.  Now back to the endless amount of laundry and catching up on the newspaper and emails!
