Olivia crawling to the bathroom

Nighttime Routine

I decided tonight to share Olivia's nighttime routine.  In all the baby preparation classes and books we read there was a constant reminder about having a bedtime/nighttime routine.  I started this very early on with Olivia- probably 5-6 weeks old.  We mainly stick to the same routine nightly and we have little to no problem getting her to bed.  At first it was awful- I was about to give up but like anything in order to get into a routine you need to keep practicing.  We always aim for a bedtime between 7:45ish- 8:15ish, she is lucky if it goes to 8:30.  So here it goes:

6:30ish (or after she eats her dinner of oatmeal and a veggie) we go up to her room to do what I can sing and swing.  I play nursery rhymes from a cd and Olivia swings in the swing.  Not sure what I will do once she is to heavy for the swing! I am sure she will miss it too! But this time also gives me time to put away laundry or pick out my clothes for school.

7:00 read a book.

7:10ish play in her room.  We have some toys in her room to play with- a farm, a light up book, a puzzle, a soft book, or anything else she decides to do.

7:25ish get to the bathroom- now that she is mobile she can crawl all the way to the bathroom.  She has gotten quite quick at it.  A few weeks ago it was taking 5+ minutes.  Tonight it took about 2.

7:30 bath, blow dry, pajamas.  Olivia still cries when we put on her pajamas EVERY night.  Why?? We have no idea.  I think that she knows that the day is over and it is time to go to bed.  But the past 2 nights I may her favorite noise of making raspberries and she didn't cry.  So maybe that will do the trick for awhile.

7:45ish Bedtime bottle.  She usually takes about 6-7oz before bed.  We are trying to get her to drink on her own- but that is a work in progress.

8:00ish- BED! Sometimes she talks and kicks herself to sleep.  Other times she is zonked right out!

8:15ish- me- exhausted.  I usually wash out her bottles and make 2 bottles for the next day.

8:30ish- set aside time to blog and read email.

9:00ish finish any school work or do the school work that didn't get done that afternoon.

And that is about it!

Sing and swing time!

Book time!

Working on...holding the bottle

Well we are working on it.  Again today saw a baby younger than Olivia drinking out the bottle by themselves.  I think Olivia has become a little L-A-Z-Y? I don't know.  I guess we never pressed the issue for her to drink from the bottle herself.  But what I have noticed in the past few weeks she is not liking to be held anymore to take her bottle.  We are using the Boppy pillows more and more... I guess it is a sign of her independence.  Tomorrow I may try to do her formula in her sippy cup for one of her feedings and see how she does...I will have a bottle on standby of course.  She drinks water from the sippy cup when having her solids a lot better this week.  So we will see.  I know it is not all that important but it kind of is.  But she at least attempted it for a couple of seconds on her own.  She did better during her nighttime feeding with it than her dinner feeding.  Maybe I am hoping she just graduates to the sippy cup altogether....only time will tell.

I am trying...

seriously... I am trying!

Getting ready for Thanksgiving

Today was a big day! Daddy took me shopping.  We went all over.  We went to the Pecan store and got some fresh pecans for pecan pie.  Then we went to Boss Brothers so daddy could get some food for the deer.  Then we went to Publix.... to buy the TURKEY! I have no idea what mommy and daddy are so excited about.  But they are planning all this good food for Thanksgiving.  I may even get to try some too! Mommy was really hoping my teeth would be here to make it a little easier but we will manage.  I just can't wait for Thanksgiving!

XOXO

Olivia making some noise

I just love the newspaper!

I just love the newspaper! I love when mommy and daddy read the newspaper because they read it to me too.  I love looking at all the pictures.  I have now discovered where the papers go before they go to the recycle bin.  Today I just loved the Piggly Wiggly add.  There was a big turkey on it and I loved looking at it!

I also went to the doctor today and my ear infection is all gone! YAY! They even cleaned out some wax- BOO not my favorite.  The doctor said to not have apricots again unless they are all by themselves- then see what happens with rosy cheeks.  They are looking better though.  I also weighed 17 pounds and 12 ounces! YAY!

Yummm.... turkey.  Yeah and I scratched myself by my eye in my sleep.  I am a wild woman in my sleep!

Getting the hang of things...

Today I let daddy sleep in a bit- I didn't wake up the normal 3 times this morning, but I did wake up at 7:15.  Mommy had a meeting this afternoon so Kristy babysat me. I was laughing a lot with her.  It was fun.  I have become a lot better with the sippy cup! Mommy says I look like a sailor chugging.  Tomorrow I have to go to the doctor... not to sure how I feel about that.  They need to check my ears and they are going to see why my cheeks are so rosy.  Hopefully my ear is all better!!

Let me in

I want to pull up on anything

I ate my green beans in less than 15 minutes tonight!

Olivia going down the slide

Olivia swinging at Harbins Park

Playing at Harbins Park

Today was another beautiful day. Brendon and I both said how nice it was to wear shorts in November!! We went for another walk today but we went to Harbins Park.  We walked and then took Olivia on the swings and Brendon took Olivia down a few slides.  Videos coming later... It was such a great afternoon at the park!

Swinging at the park!

Yes we know she is in the swing backwards- the sun would have been right in her face if she was facing the other way!

Not to sure about this daddy...

I will try to crawl to you...

Weeee... lets go down the slide!

Olivia first time in a swing

I'm a cheerleader

Today I was a cheerleader for the Bills.  They lost though.  I stayed up for the first quarter and basically napped the rest of the game.  I woke up really early today and last night I woke up crying 2 times.  Also I had apricots again today but mommy says no more apricots for awhile because my cheeks got all red again after I ate them.  I ate my carrots really well tonight and loved playing with mom and dad today.

XOXO
Olivia
