Olivia and Mommy Catching Fish at Jakes Day

Jakes Day 2013

I guess you can call it a tradition.  Last year we went to Jakes Day at Charlie Elliot WMA so we decided to go again this year.  We told Olivia about it and she was excited about it last night.  Well this morning she was SO EXCITED! I have never seen her so excited.  She was ready to go in her pjs- she put her shoes on.  She was really excited about having a picnic and even brought us 2 different blankets to bring. We packed a lunch and got ready to go.  The weather was similar to last year... warm but cloudy/overcast.  When we got there we stopped at a few of the exhibits- lots of different booths with information on Georgia Hunting and Fishing.  There was a Gopher tortoise to see and some birds of prey.  Then we did some fishing.  The Barbie Pole was on fire today! I caught 3 fish on it! Alright so they were 3 inches or less but a fish is a fish right? Olivia was so excited about the fish.  After fishing we went and saw some snakes- yuck! They had venomous and nonvenomous snakes that are common in Georgia.  Then we went to the nature center and they had a few more animals inside- snakes, turtles, a bird, and a fish.  Then we took a walk on the dock in the lake and then decided it was lunch time.  We went back to the truck and got the cooler and blanket and found a spot by the lake.  They were doing a tree climbing activity so we sat by this beautiful tree by the lake.  Come to find out, the tree was a 300 year old Willow tree!  So we ate lunch and then headed home.  I guess Olivia had a lot of fun because she slept ALL the way home and slept for 2 more hours when we got home. It was such a fun day!!

Picking Strawberries

With the weather being all funky we haven't made it to the strawberry patch yet.  Last night when we passed the patch there were TONS of people picking.  I checked their website when I got home Washington Farms and they said they are loaded with berries.  We are so lucky to live so close to the Loganville location that it is not a hassle to go there.  I took Olivia last year with my mom and Brendon didn't go for some reason...I think he was working on a project with Bill.  So I told him that he could take Olivia, even though I REALLY wanted to be there, I can't take off from work to pick strawberries.  There is always next year.  We have been taking Olivia since she was born. We took her to the patch shortly after she was born.  Gosh how time flies!!

It looks like they had a really good time.  Olivia told me all about the bucket and putting the strawberries in there.  Now I can't wait to eat them this weekend! Yummy!!

Happy Birthday Mommy!

Today is mommy's birthday! We woke up really early because mommy and daddy had to work.  I told her happy birthday a lot this morning.  Daddy surprised mommy with some flowers in the bathroom! They smelled good and were so pretty.  Then we ate breakfast together and I did a good job eating.  Then we drove to Susan's house and I counted 9 school buses and 6 garbage trucks on the way.   I was a good girl at Susan's and made mommy a Mother's Day gift.  When mommy picked me up I thought we were going to eat with Griffin and mommy told me we were going to eat with daddy.  Daddy came home for dinner and we went to a restaurant.  I was a good girl and sat in a booster seat for a bit.  Then we came home and had cake, ice cream, and opened presents.  Mommy got a new pair of running shoes that I tried on, a Road ID bracelet, a new lunch bag, a sweater, and lots of goodies from her students and friends.  Mommy said she had a great birthday!!

XOXO

Gymboree Wednesday

Tonight we met our Gymboree friends for dinner. Of course it is always fun.  Then Gymboree class was fun- the focus was on pets.  It was cute seeing Olivia feed the dog and the cat food, roll around like a hamster wheel, and climb and be a monkey.  This little girl is not afraid of anything!! It amazes me.  And of course for her on the way home... we went down the bumpy road!

Hanging Around

The past 2 weeks at Gymboree Olivia has been doing some monkey bar action.  The other night she tried to hang from a drawer in the kitchen...told her no...I don't want our drawers to break.  I guess today she found a new way to hang.... she is such a monkey!

The sun was out this afternoon and so when we got home from work we played outside.  It was so nice to get some sun although all the rain made lots of fire ant hills...grrr!!!

Here is how much rain we got... 5.43 inches.  That was with last nights rain added in.

Dear Sunshine...where are you?

Another yucky day today.  Not much rain during the day just gray, overcast skies.  But still gave everyone the Monday blahs and there is some rain coming tonight.  Thank goodness for Gymboree so Olivia could get out and play.  We really miss the sun though. We are waiting for the pool to warm up, and I would really like to wear some shorts.  I am tired of wearing winter pjs and so is Olivia.

Sunshine...I am pleading and begging, please make an appearance sooner than later!

Rainy Day Fun

Well day 3 of rain.  It was raining again this morning so we did some different things to help with the rainy day blues. First we did some painting.  Olivia thought we were going to paint her feet but instead I grabbed some pages I printed for q-tip painting.  She did pretty well with it but after I showed her that you are to dab the q-tip on the circle...so she did that then she just started using the q-tip like a paint brush.  So we painted a few pictures.  Then we cleaned up and then did Play Doh.  I try to save Play Doh for rainy days so she doesn't get bored with it.  Then after lunch the sun came out.  I bolted out with Kristy to go for a run.  It wasn't that wet but the spillway at the park was raging like Niagara Falls.  When Olivia woke up from her nap we went outside.  We fed the birds and played for a bit.  It felt great to get outside...too bad it is already raining.

Serious about her painting
