Jakes Day 2013

I guess you can call it a tradition.  Last year we went to Jakes Day at Charlie Elliot WMA so we decided to go again this year.  We told Olivia about it and she was excited about it last night.  Well this morning she was SO EXCITED! I have never seen her so excited.  She was ready to go in her pjs- she put her shoes on.  She was really excited about having a picnic and even brought us 2 different blankets to bring. We packed a lunch and got ready to go.  The weather was similar to last year... warm but cloudy/overcast.  When we got there we stopped at a few of the exhibits- lots of different booths with information on Georgia Hunting and Fishing.  There was a Gopher tortoise to see and some birds of prey.  Then we did some fishing.  The Barbie Pole was on fire today! I caught 3 fish on it! Alright so they were 3 inches or less but a fish is a fish right? Olivia was so excited about the fish.  After fishing we went and saw some snakes- yuck! They had venomous and nonvenomous snakes that are common in Georgia.  Then we went to the nature center and they had a few more animals inside- snakes, turtles, a bird, and a fish.  Then we took a walk on the dock in the lake and then decided it was lunch time.  We went back to the truck and got the cooler and blanket and found a spot by the lake.  They were doing a tree climbing activity so we sat by this beautiful tree by the lake.  Come to find out, the tree was a 300 year old Willow tree!  So we ate lunch and then headed home.  I guess Olivia had a lot of fun because she slept ALL the way home and slept for 2 more hours when we got home. It was such a fun day!!
