10 Months Old

Wow! 10 Months old! Two more months and Olivia will be a year old.  Holy Cow! Well today started out with a boom- literally.  We had horrible storms this morning.  One strike of lightning was so close that Brendon saw the glass on the doors shake.  It was pretty scary at times.  It was so bad that I decided not to take Olivia to Gymboree today.  It was not worth a horrible car ride and the dangerous conditions.  I tried to do some Gymboree stuff at home- we sang songs and had bubbles.  It didn't matter because Olivia was not in her best mood today.  She did not want to nap this morning- not sure if it was the storms or what- she actually got scared of some of the thunder.  I ended up rocking with her for over an hour and she would be snoozing and I'd go to set her down in the crib- and then crying.  Finally I got her to lay down for about 25 minutes.  Then we did lots of playing and there was lots of crying today...I think I saw a tooth but not sure- she won't let me look!

Here is her 10 month update:

* Drinks water from the sippy cup like a champion- we have tried formula in the sippy cup but she knows the difference and doesn't want it with formula.

* She is a proficient and fast crawler!

* Cruising around- cruises around furniture and walks with her walking stroller all over.  She starts to let go sometimes when standing but mostly just plops on her butt!

* Pulls up on anything and everything- with and without ledges.

* Still working on finger foods- does well with graham crackers.  Puffs and Cheerios does ok- still working on getting it into her mouth. Jake gets most of the food!

* Started a little bit of table foods- likes bread, corn, carrots, pasta.

* Still sleeps pretty good- 2 naps (1 morning and 1 afternoon) and sleeps through the night

* She has favorite toys- her Baby Einstein book- STILL, and her pink laptop. Loves the activity table- we already had to change the batteries in it!

* She likes to chew on books- we still read to her every night- even if it is the same book.  She has a few favorites.  A Sesame Street book- Abby Cadabby, and tonight she pulled out the Noisy Farm book and I showed her how to make the noises.

* She can crawl the stairs by herself but we are ALWAYS right behind her.

* She takes a bath in the big bath tub and plays with her toys in the bath.  She also can stand up in the bath tub.

* Her hair is getting longer and is a little wispy at the ends.

* She knows routines- like the bath routine and when we are going in the car.

* She is saying some words- da da, she can get the uh part of uh oh, and is starting to say some other sounds.

* She is wearing 9 month clothes and is wearing shoes when we go out.  Most of the time she has socks on or is bare foot in the house.

* She has 1 tooth! Hopefully more are coming in soon!

She is just growing up way to fast!
Tried to get her crying but she stopped...

Not a happy camper!

How can you resist...

this sweet face! I had to get a few pictures after she woke up from her nap because she was just so happy. Sometimes she is not so happy when she wakes up from naps.  But today she was pretty happy.  It was a drizzly day today so just lots of playing inside.  Olivia is getting really fast walking with her stroller and she will walk if we hold her hands.  She is still a little nervous to stand on her own- she just plops on her butt still.  But she is cruising around the furniture and all over the place with the stroller.  One day she is going to figure out to let go of the stroller and walk on her own...one day.  I got some after bath pictures tonight and tried to get some of her wild hair.

Little Pink Riding Hood went pee pee on the bathroom floor

Mommy had me wear a hooded sweatshirt today since it was chilly.  She thought it was funny to put the hood on my head.  I was not a big fan of it.  I napped for awhile today but would wake and cry for a few minutes.  I did that last night a few times too.  The best part of the day was after my bath I stood up (holding on to the toilet- seat was down of course) with my towel on.  Mommy was saying I looked so cute and that I looked like E.T.  Then she said out loud, "I hope you don't go pee pee on the floor." Well guess what I did... I went pee pee on the floor.  Mom then said, "Uh oh! Oh no!." Then she had to clean it up.  Oh well... I still looked cute though!

Today I was walking with my stroller and then went right to the table without sitting down

So happy to push my puppy around

Our Little Cupcake

Today Olivia was such a little cupcake...well kinda.  She was great this morning and early afternoon.  But she only took about an hour and fifteen minute afternoon nap- really only about an hour.  She woke up and was playing so I let her play.  Well the playing commenced to crying so I tried to let her cry it out but that didn't work.  So I just rocked her to get her settled but she never went back to sleep.  I was at such peace while rocking her.  It is one of those moments where you wish you could freeze time.  It was great to cuddle and snuggle with her.  These moments go by so fast but I wish they could last forever.  I thought to myself as I was rocking her- nothing really else matters right now except this moment.

If you haven't already, if you scroll down to the blogs we follow (on the left) and click on the little green family- they posted a video from Halle's Memorial (Celebration) service.  I watched it last night and it is truly amazing to watch.  What a true celebration of a precious baby.  One of the most moving parts is when the parents speak.  The dad, Chris, truly spoke from the heart and captured the unconditional love for his family.  His speech goes along with a movie that Brendon and I watched this week- Courageous.  If you have the time to watch that movie it will make you want to be a better parent and partially understand the life we live.  The theme of Chris' speech and the movie of just being good enough dad/parent isn't enough.  So I urge you to put down that cell phone, computer, or video game or whatever distracts you from your children and pick up your child, take them by the hand and cherish every moment.  Become something better than a good enough parent.

Trying new food Tuesday

Today I woke up and it was just daddy! I was sad that mommy was not home.  Daddy let me try something new for breakfast- waffles! I tried a little.  I picked up and ate a few pieces.  Then when mommy came home I ate a whole 1/2 of a graham cracker almost by myself.  I am understanding how to eat now- I put it in my mouth and chomp! I even drank out of a sippy cup today that had no handles! Kristy came over and babysat me for a bit today and I was a good girl.  I ended up falling asleep in her lap for a bit! I love Kristy she is such a good babysitter.  I try to be a really good girl for her and mommy let me show off my walking with the stroller skills to her.  She was impressed! Alright I am super tired.

XOXO

Extra day with mom and dad

Today was a bonus day with everyone home! Brendon said that I could sleep in today- my plan was to sleep until 9:00 a.m.  Well that didn't happen.  Once Olivia woke up she wasn't the happiest camper and would not stop crying.  So I finally got out of bed to help Brendon get her calmed down and it was way before the 9:00 I had planned.  We ate breakfast, played, and napped like usual today.  We even had family rest time this afternoon.  When Olivia napped this afternoon we all took a little rest time.  I think we were all pretty tired- Jake included.  After napping we went out to dinner at Summit's Wayside Tavern.  Since it didn't work out last week, this week went much better.  Olivia did good in the high chair and played and she even tried some cheese.  This place is Olivia's restaurant because she has been there 3 times! Once when she was about 3 weeks old, then during the summer, and then again tonight.  Soon she will have her own high chair with her name inscribed.  We had a little bit of crying on the way home but I tried to keep it at bay with some Gymboree songs...but that didn't last forever.  It was a great extra day at home!

Sunday, Sunday

This morning we went to church. It was not Olivia's best church behavior.  But we managed.  We had a diaper change and going out in the vestibule- twice.  But it was alright.  No major meltdowns like I saw from other children also in the vestibule.  There was lots of football, walking with the stroller, and I went to run.  It was chilly but really nice outside.  We may be making a trip to the doctor, her left eye has been drippy and a little gooey and now that cheek is all red! Now time to go enjoy the apple pie I made... yum!

Stroller time!
