Cinco de Mayo Bike Race

Today Brendon had another bike race at Fort Yargo and it was a hot one.  Olivia and I made it there after lunch.  Thankfully their little site was by the water so it was breezy.  We stayed about 2 hours and then came home.  The ride home was AWFUL!!!!!! Olivia cried the whole way home and continued crying once we got home.  She calmed down about 10 minutes after we got home and she had some dinner.  Probably the best part of tonight was Olivia discovered the curtains in the spare bedroom and played Peek-a-boo for about 20 minutes and was laughing hysterically.  I will have to get it on video tomorrow since I didn't have the camera tonight.  After her bath I was blow drying her hair and the blow dryer broke! Thankfully Karyn came to the rescue with a blow dryer! Then she drank her milk and brushed her teeth.  What I did notice while brushing her teeth she has some pretty big bumps in the back of her mouth so maybe all this fuss and the waking at night are from the dreaded molars coming in.

First real Ouchie

Well I definitely earned the worst mother of the year award tonight.  Olivia and I were playing outside and she took a pretty good spill in the driveway- more like a face plant.  At first I thought it just scared her but when I looked closer she had a little strawberry on her nose and under her nose.  When we came in I iced it.  When I was giving her a bath I noticed that her lip was red and sure enough she hit her lip too! Poor thing! I was more upset with myself more than anything and I was right behind her and couldn't catch her in time!

Other than that, Olivia was a little fussy today.  She woke up once last night crying.  I really think it is from her teeth coming down or else there are more coming in.  I took her temperature and it was 99.6 which is not a fever.  Brendon took her grocery shopping and she was fine there.  I took her this afternoon to run some errands and she was great.  But then she didn't want to nap.  I kind of found a pattern though when she is getting new teeth- she doesn't want to nap, fussy on and off, and little bouts of crying during the night.  We will see what tonight brings....

I think we are done with... bottles

I think we are officially done with bottles... I think.  Olivia hasn't taken a bottle ALL week.  She has used a cup at each meal with milk and drinks water from a cup which she has done for a long time.  It took awhile to find the right cup.  So far the best I think is the Nuby Converta Cup. It transitioned through handles which are removable and will go to be a regular cup.

 

Another cup we have used is the Nuby Super Spout Easy Gripper Cup (10 Oz) which has been easy to use also.   

I hope I don't jinx the whole bottle thing by writing this tonight!! 

What I have found is that her last cup of milk takes a little bit longer than the bottle did.  We have to figure out a good position first.  First we start in the rocking chair and I rock her and she drinks.  I usually try to sing some songs or something.  Then we try the Boppy Infant Seat for a bit.  Then if she still isn't finished then I hold her in my lap and sit her in it.  But proud of her so far....hope she keeps it up!

This ain’t about fishin’ and french toast

Since Olivia is now walking we are very excited to do more things with her, especially going fishing.  We have been on the hunt for the perfect fishing pole for her and finally found a Barbie one at Target.  Believe it or not Wal-Mart was out of the Barbie fishing poles.  Today finally Brendon snapped a picture of her with her pole and her first fishing hat! So cute!! We are so excited about taking her soon and creating fun memories with her. As Trace Adkins says-

"I’m lost in her there holdin’ that pink rod and reel
She’s doin’ almost everything but sittin’ still
Talkin’ ‘bout her ballet shoes and training wheels
And her kittens
And she thinks we’re just fishin’"

Then for dinner tonight we went to Nicole's house for French Toast.  Nicole is having breakfast for dinner this week which is my favorite.  Olivia and Nicole did great.  They played and they ate.  It was pretty easy eating with them because we did sort of an indoor picnic.  The girls loved it!! Then we played for a bit.  Such a fun time!!

Another field trip

Its the first day of May but it feels like summer already.  Olivia had a good morning with daddy and then this afternoon took a field trip with mommy to work.  I admit I was nervous taking her there.  There was a last minute faculty meeting called and Kristy was working today so I asked my principal if I could bring Olivia and he said it was ok.  I hate that I had to bring her because I don't want any special treatment for working part time and I hate to be a distraction to others.  But Olivia was really good and mostly quiet- more quiet than she would probably be in church.  I brought some books and snacks and that kept her entertained.  She did not nap on the way home so she had a long afternoon.  We ate dinner together and then we went outside for a bit.  It was hot but fun.  She loves to walk up the driveway.  I guess she likes the challenge.  Tomorrow is Gymboree and then breakfast for dinner! We are excited about the second part!

Last Day of April

Today was another busy day.  When mommy got home from work I had lunch with her.  Then daddy left to go to work.  Mommy and I went to Target and Publix to pick up a few things.  I was a good girl in the cart.  Mommy got diapers and a few other things.  We then went to Publix and she bought some more stuff.  We then stopped at Malissa and Karson's house.  I had a good time playing with the remotes and laughing at Gus.  Karson was sleeping until about 5 minutes before I left but I said hi to him.  Then I napped when I got home.  Mommy and I ate dinner and then we went to play outside.  My Godparents and Shawn came over to see me. I showed off my walking skills.  It was still really hot at 6:15 when I was playing.  Tomorrow mommy says we have another field trip... she has to bring me to school.  I hope I can be a good girl....

Happy Birthday Leonardo!

This morning I helped daddy water the garden and apple trees.  I had fun helping him.

After my nap and lunch we got ready for Leonardo's 1st Birthday Party! After a longish car ride we arrived at the party and got to see all my friends.  It was super hot today and the party was outside.  I played with all my friends and walked around a lot.  I even tried watermelon but would only eat it from Ethan's mom.  I even ate some chicken nugget.  We sang Happy Birthday to Leo and daddy had some good cake! Leonardo had a really cool cake, his mommy did such a great job on it! We are so happy to celebrate Leo with all our friends.  Next week we get to celebrate Nicole's Birthday!

I did not nap at all this afternoon and mommy had to get in the back seat with me on the way home from the party because I was super whiny...I should have just slept....

Then I ate dinner and went in the swing. I was super whiny after my bath but fell right asleep.  I think I was hot and tired from all the fun today.
