4th Half-Marathon and a Heartbreaking loss!

Today I did my 4th half-marathon.  I wasn't sure how it would go with my whole cough and lack of sleep this week.  But it went alright.  I think I did 30 seconds fast than the Athens 1/2 marathon in October.  It was a local half-marathon in Walton County which was nice...it was out in the country.  So we ran past lots of pastures and A LOT of roadkill.  The worst roadkill I saw was a deer with half of the carcass exposed...gross.

After the run I came home and had lunch.  Brendon had to take my truck to get a new battery.  It was not starting right the last few days and I was right...needed a new battery!  Then we played outside.  Then Olivia napped and I went to pick up my trail running shoes!

We then got ready for the football game- SEC Championship.  What an exciting game! When they were winning...good times, losing not so much fun! It was a tough loss for the Dawgs! We were all very sad. Good season Dawgs and we still love you!

The Culprit

Well I found the culprit besides the stuffy nose...another tooth! YAY and Boo at the same time.  The right bottom tooth next to the 2 others she has had popped through.  Poor thing... no wonder she didn't want to eat much yesterday and today.  In the past 2 weeks she has gotten 3 teeth! This afternoon she went down really well for her nap and I was cracking up downstairs listening to her talk.  I caught some No Ma'ams on video and then she just rambled some stuff and fell asleep.

After her nap she was fine and ate a snack.  At dinner she ate almost everything! So I guess she finally was hungry.  Bedtime was so so.  She kept saying, "Lay down" and when I would lay her down and walk out the door she would cry.  Finally I gave her some medicine that will help with the teeth and the last time she said, "Lay down" I stayed until she fell asleep outside her crib.  I am sure she will wake up soon! But at least we found the culprit of the other tooth.

Getting Better

It is getting better.  Last night Olivia did the best out of the last week or so.  She stayed down and woke once around 1 a.m. Brendon went and checked on her and she was sitting in her crib, so he laid her back down and she went back to sleep.

Olivia went to Susan's house today.  They worked on lots of crafts! She had paint on her hands and feet! I can't wait to see the crafts!

While Olivia napped this afternoon I worked on cleaning some things.  As the doctor told me, I probably keep reinfecting myself.  So I cleaned Olivia's toys and cleaned lots of other stuff that we all touch.  Hopefully the germies go away!

Well almost and Henry Update

We almost made it last night....she woke up about 10 and then went back down about 10 minutes later and then slept all the way through until this morning.  I on the other hand coughed and coughed most of the night.  I went to the doctor today and he gave me a cough pill...which I am not sure if it is working yet.  I can't take another one until 11 something.  Then he gave me an inhaler! Ahhh! Now all 3 of us our on inhalers.  Lovely.  I have never had to do an inhaler..I am not sure if I like it either.  The doctor did hear anything in my lungs.  He also suggested I switch to Claritin D 12 hours.  Well I just got a box of 24 hour...so I am going to go through those first.  Fun times at this house!

Also here is the latest update on Henry from mom Jessica...please pray for them.  Every moment in life is special especially now for this family.

Well this is a tough update, but probably overdue for those of you praying for our family and little Henry.

We've had an incredible time since being home, fun adventures and meaningful family time. For a while, he seemed to wake up stronger each day, more whole and healthy.

Definitely one of the hardest moments of this journey was watching Henry peak with his surgical recovery and begin to slide into symptoms of disease progression again.

And that's where we are. He's physically stable for now, but emotional and mental capacities are strongly affected by this frontal lobe tumor. We are able to manage his pain effectively.

We ask for your prayers of strength, wisdom, and peace. We have no time-table, we just focus on each moment.

We again want to offer thanks for all the incredible support. God bless.

Shhhh...someone is sleeping....

Well it only took an hour but I am hoping Olivia is down.  I even had a pep talk phone call from my mom during it all.  Let's see if she stays down...my fingers and toes are crossed.

These pictures are from last night.  I was trying some different settings on the camera.

3 Hours...3 long hours....

Here is why there was no post last night.  It was 3 hours...3 long hours of trying to get Olivia to go to sleep.  Every time I tried to put her in the crib...crying...actually whaling.  After the first 1/2 hour of rocking I just brought her downstairs and we did some online shopping at Kohls. Then I tried again and it was a no go.  At 10 I brought her in our room and tried our bed...nope.  Then I resorted to the recliner by 11 and then she finally fell asleep.  When Brendon got home at 12:40 I carried her into her crib and she slept until about 7 today.  With all that being said I told Brendon to call the pediatrician because this is just not like her.

Back they go this morning.  Nurse practitioner said she has a cold and is irritated from the drainage.  The cough is STILL lingering also....so they gave us another round of antibiotics and 2 inhalers.  They want us to use one inhaler ALL winter and the other for the next 4-5 days.  No real diagnosis and they said they can't tell if is is asthma yet.  But still it worries me.  It worries me because even though I know she is a carrier for CF that these are signs or symptoms of CF.  I just want her to feel better and I would like to feel better too.  I am going to the doctor tomorrow for me...I have had enough of my cough too.

I am sure tonight will be just as bad as last night but it is just part of being a mom.

Decorating the Christmas Tree

It was another restless evening last night.  We took turns going upstairs with her.  Olivia finally fell asleep about 10ish and woke up at 6 a.m..  This isn't going to work with me going back to work tomorrow and Brendon working.  I don't have 2 hours every night to rock her to sleep! I guess I will have to have all my ducks in a row before I try to get her down to sleep.  Key word TRY.  She has always been a good sleeper so I am not sure what is going on- teeth, stuffy nose?

I ended up bringing Olivia in our room after the 6 a.m. wake up and that didn't work either.  Brendon was a super star husband and got up with her and let me catch a few extra winks of sleep.  I felt a bit better when I woke up.  He was so great he waited to eat breakfast with me!

Then we did the usual Sunday routine of reading the newspaper and drinking coffee and playing.  Olivia ate a good lunch but didn't take a good nap.  She was a hot mess.  It was almost one of those moments when you want to rip your hair out and complete chaos.  I just got back from a long run and she was up crying.  So Brendon handed her off to me so he could go hunt.  I tried to get her settled and tried to take a shower.  It was the fastest shower I ever took because she was crying.  Then I had to dry my hair with her crying on my lap and then she just kept on crying.  Meanwhile Jake snuck downstairs and when I figured out he wasn't with Olivia and I, I found him and lots of turkey all over the floor.  AHHHHHHHHHHHHH....it was madness.  I finally got her settled and the mess cleaned up.  I almost called Brendon to come back up to the house but everything was fine.

After dinner we finished the Christmas tree.  We put it up after lunch but didn't decorate it.  Olivia wasn't so sure at first.  She wanted to play with Jake on the couch.  But then she came over and started looking in the boxes of ornaments.  Then we tried to show her how to put them on the tree and that was a no go.  Then she watched us doing it and finally got the hang of it! It was so cute!  We took her on a brief outside trip to see the lights on our house.  It is so magical to see Christmas through her eyes. To her everything is so wowie and whoa!

Checking out all the ornaments
Finally putting them on the tree
