Better but Different

Today was better.  Olivia was in a much better mood today but still she was different.  She was little on the quiet side and sucking in her bottom lip a lot.  She ate her formula great and had breakfast (oatmeal and bananas) and lunch (pears) but dinner...  Everything was going along fine and we were about 3/4 of the way through and she got this funny look on her face and her face got all red and she started to gag.  Those mommy reflexes went into action because I thought she was choking instead she vomited...all over.  All the green beans and oatmeal that she had eaten so far.  I am not sure what happened- if she was eating to fast or something triggered her gag reflex.  That was the first time she has ever vomited.  Not fun to clean up.  Second during her bath tonight she peed in the bath tub! She has never done that either! So just some weird different stuff today.  Hoping tomorrow will be better!

The common face of the day...sucking/biting on the lower lip...googled it and many people say it is a sign of teething.

The Aftermath of the 6 Month Checkup

Well as I sit here at 9:00 p.m. I am still wearing my spirit wear shirt that I wore to work this morning.  It is all blinged out with some rhinestones but now has drool and some spit up to add to it- talk about bling!  It has been one of those days.  It started early.  Olivia was up before I was even in the shower.  Brendon changed her diaper before I left for work and she felt a little warm so I gave her some Tylenol.  Brendon said she really didn't go back to sleep.  Olivia was very fussy for him and also very fussy for the Physical Therapist.  If she wouldn't have been so fussy and did her stretches and exercises there, we would be going to once every other week but since she was a hot mess, Brendon has to take her next week.

Once I got home she was napping and napped until 1:15ish.  She ate and fussed, played, and fussed.  The cycle went on all day.  I tried to lay her down for a nap... nope didn't happen.  I even tried the vacuum trick.  Nada.  So she stayed up. She ate a bottle about 4:30ish and I was going to attempt her oatmeal and green beans at 5:30.  Well that was a nightmare.  Screaming and tears.  So I took her up to her room and finally got her to calm down and she ended up falling asleep on me while I rocked her.  She took a cat nap and at that point so did I.  She woke up happy.  Tried the solids again... she ate about 3/4 of it. She was just a mess today.  I am sure it is the results of the shots from yesterday and the teething.

Tomorrow is another new day! Hoping for a good one... cause I am exhausted!

6 Month Doctor's Appointment

Today was Olivia's 6 month check up! We are so excited to see how much she has grown.  Here are her stats:

Weight: 16.15 pounds (50th percentile)~ She has gained close to 3 pounds
Height: 26 inches (50th percentile) ~ She has grown 2 inches in 2 months
Head Circumference 43 1/2 cm or over 17 inches~ her head grew over 3 cm

She was such a good girl while we waited and only cried a little after the shots.  Usually she is a hot mess while the doctor examines her.  Everything looked good, we have to put some mineral oil in her ears for the little bit of ear wax she keeps getting.  The doctor did find that she has a little black spot on the outside of her eye.  Right now we are going to watch it.  She said it is not impacting her vision.  You could barely see the spot with the eye thingy they examine with.  I could barely see it when I looked through it.  So hopefully everything will be fine with that.  The doctor said her neck is looking better.  She said we can start trying the sippy cup with some water~ I tried it tonight... she was a little hesitant.  She may have taken one sip of water...maybe...we can also try some different foods.  Around 7-8  months we can start some meats~ pureed of course.  That means she can have turkey for Thanksgiving!!

Big girl on the scale!

I at least tried it mom!!

Dear Olivia...You are our Miracle

Dear Olivia,

Six months ago you came into this world sunny side up! You have been our sunshine ever since.  Daddy and I can't believe you are six months old already.  Where has the time gone?  In six months you have gone from a teeny tiny 5 pounds 11 ounces to at least 16 pounds.  You have become the hope and sunshine your daddy and I love to see each day.  Your truly are a miracle to us and we feel blessed to see you growing and changing  every day.  You surprise us with something new each day.  Your smile and laughter light us up.  We cannot wait to see what the next six months bring.

We love you Olivia with all of our heart.  We hope you know that so many people loved you before you were born and still love you every day! Thank you for completing our hearts and filling us with even more joy and happiness.

Happy Half Birthday Olivia! We love you!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

Olivia scooting

Working Hard

Today I really worked on scooting and sitting.  I actually sat through the whole weather forecast tonight all by myself.  I scooted and rocked a lot today.  Mommy was so proud of me today! I am still waiting for my teeth.  I am drooling and spitting up a lot, I just want them to pop out.  Mommy keeps trying to peek in my mouth but I won't let her and put my tongue over where they are coming in! I guess I just want to surprise her and daddy one day.

Tomorrow is my favorite day Gymboree and I will be 6 months old tomorrow...it is my half birthday! Happy Half Birthday to me!

XOXO
Olivia

Up on all fours ready to scoot!

I am sitting all by myself!

I don't know why I am crying but I am still sitting!

Almost done crying...and still sitting!

Forty-two things that change when you have a baby

Got this in an email today from Baby Center.

1. You finally stop to smell the roses, because your baby is in your arms.

2. Where you once believed you were fearless, you now find yourself afraid. [See a reader's perspective in #22, below.]

3. The sacrifices you thought you made to have a child no longer seem like sacrifices.

4. You respect your body ... finally.

5. You respect your parents and love them in a new way.

6. You find that your baby's pain feels much worse than your own.

7. You believe once again in the things you believed in as a child.

8. You lose touch with the people in your life whom you should have banished years ago.

9. Your heart breaks much more easily.

10. You think of someone else 234,836,178,976 times a day.

11. Every day is a surprise.

12. Bodily functions are no longer repulsive. In fact, they please you. (Hooray for poop!)

13. You look at your baby in the mirror instead of yourself.

14. You become a morning person.

15. Your love becomes limitless, a superhuman power.

[Many readers begged to differ, saying things like, " I disagree with number 12. 21. You finally find out the real reason you have those breasts. — Anon.

22. In response to #2 [above], I'd say that where you were once afraid, you're now fearless. I was always very timid and shy and let myself get walked all over … but now where my kid's concerned, I'll speak my mind and really connect with my inner "b"! — gummismom

No Pictures from Today =(

Sorry no pictures from today.  Olivia had her 6 month pictures done today and was pictured out.  Plus she didn't nap when she got home from the pictures so we had one fussy girl on our hands tonight.  Hopefully we got some good pictures at the photo shoot.  Gosh it was hard to get her to smile today!

Bills Good Luck Charm

I think I must be good luck! Since I have been wearing my Bills spirit wear the Bills have won.  Even though I napped through part of the game and only watched half of it, they still won! They have won 2 weeks in a row.

I had a good day today.  Mommy and Daddy took me to church and I was a good girl.  I even fell asleep on Mommy.  Everyone at church liked my socks, they were cute with bows and looked like shoes.  I woke up at the end of mass when people started clapping.  It startled me but I didn't cry.

After church I napped and then played.  Then we went to see our neighbors and say Happy Birthday to Shawn! We can't believe he is 15 years old and soon he will start driving.

Then I napped again and did lots of playing.  I am really pushing up and bringing my knees in and rocking.  Today I even rolled over from tummy to back twice! I don't know what I was doing but it was fun.  Daddy also spun me around in the air today and I made a funny face.

Tomorrow I am going to try apples! I hope I like them!

XOXO
Olivia
