Daddy's bike race

Today we went to Brendon's bike race.  It was a little chilly in the morning so we waited a little bit and got there around 11 a.m.  We hung out for a bit and then had lunch. Then we waited until Brendon went back out on his next lap.  Then we went and played at the park for a bit and then came back and waited for Brendon to return.  Olivia loved ringing the cow bell and saying, "Go Daddy!" "Go Meat!"  After that we read some books and then Olivia kept saying she didn't want to go home...then she fell asleep.  So I just let her sleep in my lap...she slept from 2:30 until 4:00.  So about her usual nap time.  Then we had some snacks and then waited for the awards.  We are so proud of Brendon and his team...they came in 1st place!!

Waiting at the transition area
Cheap entertainment...cow bell and running along the taped off area
Nap time
Sitting around the campfire

The napping house...we are tired today

We were a very tired house today! Poor Brendon left the house yesterday morning at 6:15 a.m. and didn't get home until 5:00 a.m. this morning.  I woke up at 2:40 a.m. and noticed he wasn't in bed yet.  So I called and he was working a difficult case.  Therefore I was awake for a little bit.  I took Jake out...and it was freezing cold.  Then I couldn't get back to sleep! So I was up for awhile.  Then Olivia woke up at 5:35 a.m.saying she had to go! Which is good but it was 5 minutes before my alarm off and Brendon just fell asleep.  Thankfully she climbed into bed with him and fell back asleep.  Needless to say we were all pretty tired this afternoon.  Olivia didn't want to nap in her bed so I got her down in the spare bedroom and then I ended up falling asleep with her in there for about an hour.  Brendon napped and went into work late.  He is grumpy and tired.   So when we do nap here...it is serious business.

Napping...I snuck out of bed and graded papers in the hallway!

First Toddler Tantrum in a Store

This afternoon I tried to get Olivia to nap...nope...I even tried snoozing for 10 minutes with her...nope.  That's it...we are going to go buy a birthday present for a friend.  It only took a bribery of M and Ms to go potty and get into the car.  We get to the store...I didn't even look around.  I just needed a gift card.  There was one person in line ahead of me and they were taking forever and then Olivia wandered about 5 feet away...then wouldn't come back.  So it was finally my turn to check out so I had to run and scoop her up...she didn't like that and started screaming and crying.  Cashier is trying to check me out, Olivia runs away again, I run to get her, return to register with unhappy toddler...kicking me, crying, and screaming.  While all this is going on cashier is asking me a million questions- Would you like a rewards card? NO! Would you like this etc.?  NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Can't you see I have a screaming kid??? I really felt like saying that.  I wanted to get the heck out of there ASAP.  Finally got her out of the store unhappily.  Then she wouldn't get in the car, then she wouldn't get in the car seat.  Lovely.  So we sat in the parking lot until she did.  It took her about 10 minutes but I finally got her buckled in.  Then she cried all the way to the post office and then magically was fine....

Praying with Olivia

I decided a few weeks ago maybe we should start saying bedtime prayers with Olivia.  She got a few prayer books for her baptism but thought that she wasn't ready.  She really does seem to enjoy church when we go. I hate to say it that way but we have been a bit slackerish on going.  When I wasn't feeling well we skipped a few weeks and we have had some events and stuff that conflicted with going...I know bad...
But anywho Olivia seems to really enjoy saying her prayers.  She enjoys them so much we now say a few at nap time too.  They are cute- blessings for friends, animals, breakfast.  They are short and sweet and she loves to yell out "Amen!" at the end!

I found a great read about taking kids to church and why taking them to church. When we go to church, Olivia sits with us and we don't drop her off in the nursery.  Yes we get the stares and glares from people sometimes when she blurts out things etc.  But I think it is really important to have her sit with us.  You can read the article by clicking on the link below.

Big Mistake

I made a BIG mistake today.  I needed to get some cards so I took Olivia to Target after she finished lunch...

She was fine in the store until they made the announcement that they were going to test the fire alarm.  We hurried and checked out and I forgot 1/2 of the items I wanted to get! Thankfully it didn't go off until we were right by the door but it was REALLY loud.  She did fine on the car ride home and stayed awake.  Well then it came time for nap time.....nope...not today! So we had a long afternoon.  By 4:30 I was exhausted and I thought I needed a nap and tried to get her to snuggle with me...nope...So I am really tired.

Here are some cute pictures of Olivia at Susan's house painting!

Dreams and Name

This morning as I just finished drying my hair, Olivia came tip-toeing down the hall.  I got her to the potty and I always ask her if she had a good sleep.  She said, "Yeah!" Then I asked her if she had any good dreams, "Yes about squirrels!" Only our child would have dreams about squirrels! She told me they were eating nuts and jumping in the tree to go to their nest.

This afternoon we played some Play-Doh which she was quite content and focused. She was using the scissors to cut food for the caterpillar I made. Then after dinner we did some coloring, and sticker letters, and Little People play.  When we colored I asked her to write her name and  this is what she came up with....

Tada! Pretty good...I had to help with the v.  I draw dots and she traces them!

Early Wake Up

Daylight Savings Time... I do not like you.  I don't remember us having troubles before.  But Olivia was up at 5:15 a.m. today (which was really 6:15 a.m. yesterday).  She usually wakes up anywhere from 6:15- 7:00 a.m. anyways because she has to go to the bathroom.  But we got her to go back to bed with us and she did fall asleep.  So hopefully she will get adjusted soon.

We had a lazy Sunday...we were a bit tired from all the fun yesterday.  Olivia and I fed the birds while Brendon went for a bike ride.  Then we ate lunch and then I went for a run.  It was a nice and relaxing day!
