Olivia's birthday party cake!

Olivia opening presents!

1st Birthday Party!

What a fun party we had today! We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather.  It was a great day to celebrate Olivia's 1st birthday.  We did  have a few hiccups- first our oven is on the fritz! Thankfully we did not need it for today.  But the oven will not turn off! Brendon went to make some taco things last night and it would not heat to 400 degrees.  Then we turned the oven off but then it never turned off ALL night! That was crazy thing number 1.  Number 2- I went to pick up Olivia's cake from Publix and guess what- they made the cake for the wrong day! I was so upset.  I cried- yes I cried in Publix talking to the bakery worker and Manager.  I admit we both did something wrong- me I didn't look at the bakery slip after I ordered it until I got to the store today- I put it in a safe place so I would remember where it was.  Publix never even called to tell me that they made the cake (on the wrong date) and to come and pick it up.  The manager said they don't call if the person doesn't pick it up so then they throw it away! I know Publix prides themselves on customer service but I can't believe they don't call if they notice someone doesn't pick up their cake.  Anywho... after many tears later they gave me two free cakes and a gift card.  But other than those two things all went well.

We had lots of fun and lots of babies.  Many of Olivia's friends from Gymboree and my friend's from school came.  We did presents first since I knew Olivia would get messy with the cake.  We feel so blessed with all the gifts Olivia received.  She has lots of new clothes and toys for outside to play with.  We did the cake and Olivia got messy! No tears, just a whole lot of mess.  I quickly scooped her up and got her into the tub quickly and changed her clothes.  She was a little cranky because she didn't end up taking a nap.  We visited with friends some more and then everyone went home. Brendon's friend Graham stayed and helped us clean up- thank you Graham!!

We don't have too many pictures from today but there are some videos uploading.  We don't have pictures because my friend Jennifer came and took pictures for us today- which was great because I don't know when I would have been able to take any.  Also she was a great help when it came to cake time! She helped scoop ice cream and pass out cake! Thank you Jennifer!!

We ended the night with releasing a balloon.  We tied a note on the bottom and let it go in the backyard.  We are hoping that whoever finds it will email us to let us know they found it and where they found it! It would be neat if someone really did find it!

Camo Day

Daddy said that we were  going to wear camo today.  Mommy forgot when I woke up today and dressed me not in camo.  Mommy and daddy did lots of cleaning today for my party tomorrow! I am so excited for all my friends to come over.  I did good with my milk this morning! I drank almost all of it in my sippy cup and even had a morning snack.  I tried scrambled eggs and toast today.  I liked it a little bit.  I ate almost the whole piece of toast! Daddy took me outside to play today in the grass and I was doing really good with all my standing.  I still get a little nervous when I let go.  Daddy set up my tent in the house.  We tried playing in it but I didn't really like it too much plus it was hot in there.  I ate a good dinner- sweet potato fries and macaroni and cheese.  Can't wait for my party tomorrow!

XOXO

Milk Day 1

I was so excited to buy milk today when grocery shopping! I have been reading lots about transitioning to milk.  It is not a fast process.  For one week we will do 1/4 milk 3/4 formula, then next week 1/2 milk, 1/2 formula, then 3/4 milk 1/4 formula then finally all milk! So I am thinking we may have to buy one more formula =( But today she did fine with it.  She had milk about 5:00 and then before bed.  She drank all of both bottles! Soon we will work on switching totally to the sippy cup too! It is a work in progress!

Olivia seemed much better today.  A little cranky this afternoon but she ate much better today.  She is also enjoying some new toys- a tea pot set and her Elmo drum book.  Olivia has been doing more standing and will walk holding our hands.  I know one day she will let go and take off.

Well time to start getting ready for her party on Sunday! We are so excited to celebrate with everyone!

Post Birthday Aftermath!

Well today was day one of being 1! The morning was good and she was super happy BEFORE we went to the doctor.  We went for Olivia's 1 year check up.  She did really well waiting patiently for the doctor.  I brought some books and snacks to keep her entertained.  The doctor said that she looked great and was developing like she should!

Here are her stats:

Weight: 19 lbs 8.5 oz (25-50th percentile)- I was really hoping for 20 pounds!
Height: 29 1/4 inches (50-75th percentile)
Head Circumference 46 1/4 cm (75-90th percentile)

The doctor said we can go ahead and go off baby food and she can eat what we eat except for peanut butter.  She said to wait until 18 months- 2 years.  We also can start whole milk! Yippee! We have to wean her off the formula which should take a few weeks so I am hoping we have enough formula to last.  Olivia also got 3 shots and one toe prick! Ouch- Not Happy! The doctor also notice her top teeth area was swollen and said that they should be coming soon.

But after the doctor she was a hot mess.  I brought her home and put her down for a nap.  I ended up letting her sleep because she was so tired and we missed Kindermusik =( I woke her up about 5:10 and she was not happy.  She did drink her formula but when it came to dinner time- she pitched a fit.  She was crying off and on after the formula so I figured she was just hungry- not so much.  I threw most of it away! I was so sad and she was just miserable! So we played and took a bath and then she drank her whole bottle before bed- maybe she regretted not eating dinner!

This was last night before bed.  She has big girl jammies on and snuggling with her Lamby!

Being cute on the scale

I am a big girl!

Holding her at the doctor's office is near impossible- thank goodness the blinds were cheap entertainment!
