So here is the journey:
On the way there Olivia was great. She was playing, singing, and blowing raspberries. She was even super smiley when I opened the truck door when we arrived.
The party- It was very nice to meet all of the other parents and children. There were children of different ages so it was nice to see how all the kids interacted. It was hard to eat and maintain Olivia. I managed to get her to gnaw on some celery which kept her occupied for a few minutes. Then Santa came! Our daycare provider's dad is a Santa Claus- they call him Ho Ho! So all the kids got to see Santa and take pictures. We tried to do a group photo but that just was not happening! But it was fun!
The ride home- HORRIBLE! I can't even begin to tell you how horrible the ride was. I tried to feed Olivia before we left the party but I just think there was way too much going on. So I knew I would get a little bit of tears...well it turned out to be another horrible screaming and crying LONG ride home. I usually can get home from the daycare in 20- 30 minutes. So about 10 minutes in to the ride Olivia started the whole crying deal. I was like well we are 1/2 way home so not too bad. Well I got stuck behind a dump truck going anywhere from 30-40 mph in a 55 mph. Plus he was swerving and braking lots too. So this made the 10 minute usual ride into almost 30! It was probably one of the worst 30 minutes of my life. The crying and screaming made me cry. My nerves were shot once I got home!
The arrival home- I knew she was hungry and tried to feed her. But she was so upset I had to wait another 20 minutes or so to get her settled. She ate like a champ though!
One other thing she did tonight. I had to go to the bathroom and usually Olivia will just follow me to the bathroom, well I thought she was right behind me like usual- nope she decided to stop at the stairs. Not only stop there but crawl up one step. It freaked me out! Guess we need to be more careful around the stairs now! I did try to get some video of her with some assisted stair climbing, she did pretty well!
But another lesson was learned today. I cannot do everything on my own. I think this would have been different if the other half was with me tonight. So from now on, if it is something in the evening time we will have to both go. I can't do the screaming and crying deal in the car. It is awful. Another lesson learned!
