August Catch Up

Breathe. Exhale. August is over.  Still doing lots of school work is an understatement.

Olivia is settling in at school with the exception of a few warnings- she threw a toy, cried at lunch- she didn't want to eat her hamburger, and moved her snack clip off her shirt (TWICE). But she has had lots of fun.  She loves having a job.  She knows when she has a job because there is a pattern for her job, no job, job...she was excited to feed Brownie the guinea pig this week and tomorrow she gets to tell the weather. She is learning LOTS- lots of things with letters and sounds and rhymes.  What rhymes with dinosaur or flamingo?? I have no clue! They worked on making family trees at school.  Even though our tree has a few apples...it is beautiful!

At home she drew this beautiful picture on her write and wipe drawing mat.

Kind of hard to see but she drew a picture of us and wrote our names!

The best are the videos...she can't wait to be a cowgirl for Halloween and bless my heart I am going to try to make her costume. =)

Then we have been reading lots of sight word books.  Here is her reading the book after a partial read with me =)

August so far

I am really getting bad (shame on me) on keeping up this blog! Ahhh....must get better.  This back to work thing gets in the way!

Here is what we have been up too...

Survived the first weeks of school! Olivia loves Pre K.  We caught some Pre K cooties...first a stuffy nose and then some tummy issues.  I kept her home with the tummy issues cause no one wants that going around.

It rained a TON last week! We got 5 inches alone Saturday night to Sunday morning and even lost a tree.

AND we added a new family member...Welcome Dory Blue Sky Beta fish!  Olivia has really been asking for a dog and right now is just not the right time to train a puppy! Poor thing would be all alone! So we decided on this guy!

That's about all the fun we are having!!

We survived

We survived the first week of Pre K and school.  We are tired...everyone is moving slower today...but Olivia LOVES school and her teacher! She tells me all about her day and brings home "surprises" every day! The morning and after care is not her or my favorite part of the day.  She told me that she doesn't know the teachers' names in the afternoon and she is afraid to ask them to go to the restroom...we have had 2 incidents that as soon as I get there she has to go potty or as soon as we get in the car... but overall it is going well!

My class is so sweet and they are just precious...I am just tired too...lots of work the 1st couple weeks!

Here's to happy week 2! =)

A little rewind

Doing a quick little rewind over the past few weeks!

Olivia met her summer reading goal! We had lots of visiting the library and getting lots of books!

We were so blessed and thankful last week when I went back to work for pre-planning to have my parents here to help with Olivia, laundry, and cooking!

We had some fun!

First Day of Pre K

Today was a big day.  Olivia started Pre K.  I admit I was nervous.  We have been building her up for weeks about it.  At times she seemed at excited and other times not.  But today she was a little slow to wake up but then she was fine.  It was like we hadn't left our routine for 2 months.  When I dropped her off, we found her cubby, and emptied her things.  Then she goes for some more before care because her class starts later than when we are able to drop her off.  She seemed a little shy at first then we had a big hug and then she seemed fine.  No tears! I expected a call all day...but her teacher said she was a pro, I on the other hand was not.  I was proud that she earned her sticker for the day and was happy when I picked her up!

I prayed last night she would be ok and loved her teacher and school.  I know she is 4, but I want her to LOVE school.  I want her to soak up every minute of learning and growing while she is there.  We are blessed to have a great school for her to do just that.

Before we left home!

School!

Her 1st day creation!

If I could write her a lunch box note it would be this:

Dear Olivia,
Today is your first day of school! Mommy and daddy are so proud of you every day and every moment! Make sure to make new friends, laugh, and love every minute of school.  Make every moment count and listen and love your teacher.  We can't believe how fast you are growing up! We love you to the moon and back!

Writing

Well today Olivia wrote me a note...I wasn't ready for it...

Note #1
No is no

The No is No was because last night and yesterday Olivia wasn't being the best listener and following directions.  Therefore today she lost the privilege of playing the paw patrol game and I kept telling her, "No means no" No you don't get to play it...at ALL! Then it was time for lunch....

Note #2

I'm Not

I kept telling Olivia I am hungry I am going to eat lunch and then she came to me with this, "I'm Not" I told her not was spelled wrong and then she edited it and fixed it...

Growing up way too fast!!

Classroom Helper

This week Olivia and I went to school to start setting up.  Monday was the 1st day the air conditioning was on.  We did some cleaning and moved some stuff.  Yesterday we did the big job of painting my bulletin board.  It was painted red...but there were staples that were painted over and paint drips, so I fixed it with grey.  I really just wanted to paint it black, but the school was out of black paint so I settled for the grey.  We had to put 2 coats on it!! Today we went back after my dentist appointment.  Paint was dry and started hanging some stuff but then realized I needed the stuff to hang that would be laminated later in the day...then on to another project!  Olivia was pretty excited the first 2 days going but today she really didn't want to go...but I did let her play on the playground for a few minutes when we were done!  It was so hot!!

Here is the start of the new bulletin board =) (I also ran out of border... =( while working on it!!!)
