Stay at home day

Today Olivia and I stayed at home.  We didn't have any plans and I really didn't feel like going anywhere.  So we stayed home.  We did a little bit of work around the house but it still looks like a tornado of toys.  We had lunch, fed the birds some old bread and snacks, and then went swimming.  Then Olivia rested and I worked on some school stuff...which is no where near done...but just trying to get organized for the new year and redo some stuff from last year.  After dinner we watered the flowers and played for a bit outside but the mosquitoes were pretty bad even with spray on so we came in and played.  But a good stay at home day!

Olivia had her 6 month check up at the dentist today.  We need to keep brushing and flossing! But they said her teeth look good. Olivia did a great job during the cleaning especially with the crunchy toothpaste (as she called it).  She picked out her yellow balloon on the way out and was so excited.  I am glad she was good during her cleaning!

I was about to lose my mind with her encopresis today.   I know she cannot help it and we are trying to make it easier for her to go....but it seemed like every 20 minutes she would poop a little in her pants...so frustrating but at the same time she can't help it.  But finally tonight she told me she needed to go...and she went on the potty! So for all the frustration of earlier today she made up for it by going on the potty! Wahoo! Big accomplishment for the past 2 weeks! Now we need to keep it up.  She looked at me and said, "Now we don't have to go to the tummy doctor!" Unfortunately we do!

1st soccer game

Olivia had her first soccer game tonight! It was rather comical at times.  She is definitely NOT aggressive! At one point she didn't want to play anymore.  She didn't like she wasn't getting a turn...oh well...a good life lesson! But in the end they learned some sportsmanship and sharing! Next week is our last session....hopefully the game will go better!

Busy Weekend

We had a busy weekend.  Saturday we did lots of outside work and then had our neighbors over for a swim and dinner.  It was warm and the pool felt nice! Olivia napped for a bit and then woke up to see everyone and eat dinner!

Sunday we did some more housework and then went swimming at our neighbor Mr. Shannon's house.  There were lots of kids in the pool which kind of scared Olivia but she was fine.  Then we came home and ate dinner and watched soccer!

Have I given up? Being a Family of 3

I have gotten this question and No more babies? in the past few weeks after posting baby items for sale.  It is not something that you shout out loud or wear on your shirt.  In fact, it is at times painful, more painful than ripping off a band-aid.  At times it is hard to talk about and even write about. I have been pretty proud of myself for not crying the past few times I told someone.  It is difficult when you really want something to be and it just can't.  But let me rephrase it...given up...no...let go...yes.

When you are constantly consumed with a struggle like getting pregnant it gets to a point where it is unhealthy and all consuming.  Plus with the genetic factors of us both being carriers of Cystic Fibrosis, and my problems with getting pregnant, the struggle outweighed the opportunities.  If we were millionaires, life could be different with choices of IVF with genetic embryo testing...but even that isn't a guarantee or like everyone suggests...adopt! Adopting is more than going to a grocery store and picking a kid off the shelf..it doesn't work that way.  All that being said...we are going to be staying a family of 3.

As painful as it is at times, there are many blessings in all of this.  God's plan is for us to be a family of 3 and enjoy the life he has planned for us.  We are truly blessed to have Olivia and she is such a funny and spunky little girl.

So right now let go with me like this dandelion, who seeds will blow away to grow into a new flower.  Life goes on and I know it will be ok as hard as it is to say and feel, but I need to trust this journey and season of life.

For Olivia one day... we are truly blessed to have you in our life.  We love you to the moon and back!

10th Anniverary (Post 3 of 3)

Yesterday we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary.  It was a nice sunny and hot day.  Brendon had to work in the morning so Olivia and I went and got some groceries since we had no food...well at least no fresh food.  Then we went in the pool.  She LOVES to swim! After rest time Brendon was home so we all went in the pool.  Then we went to dinner at Longhorn's and came home and had ice cream on the back porch.  Then Brendon and I watched a movie- Mud.  It was pretty good.  It was a great day!

I made Brendon a Tin for Ten. Tin/Aluminum is the traditional gift.

Inside were 10 cards with pictures from each year with a special memory!

Brendon got us this beautiful clock! Love it! A timeless gift (No pun intended).

Father's Day (Post 2 of 3)

Father's Day was a fun day. We went to breakfast with Eric at the Como.  Then Olivia started having the sniffles on Saturday and after breakfast she was all sneezy and boogery so we didn't go to church. She had some chicken soup and then took a quick nap on me.  Then we went to Brendon's Uncle Jim's house.  It was fun but I spent most of the time in the bathroom with Olivia....she kept on pooping...and pooping...gross.  After dinner we came back to my mom's and played some Bocce ball and had a campfire.
