Hello Spring!

Ahhh... hopefully this is the start of spring...we really don't get spring here it seems to just jump to summer.  But anyways I will take it.  Being able to go outside with Olivia makes it even better.  The only thing I dislike right now is the bees and wasps! The bumblebees are out right now.  They are just big and buzz way to close to your body for me.  The return of the wasps has already started happening too.  They just make me nervous.

Brendon took Olivia to Gymboree this morning since we missed on Monday.  Today he went to a Level 2/3 combo class.  Olivia is just not ready yet for the Level 3 class since she is not walking.  So this may be our new class for a few weeks.  Then when I got home she had lunch and then we played outside in shorts today! Olivia tried crawling on the driveway which ended up giving her a little redness on her knees but she didn't seem upset by it at all.  But we did 3 bottles again today which seemed to work.  I just hope that she is not hungry.  She ate well today.  She still has a little runny nose and a little bit of cough but the mucous is still clear and she is happy as a clam!

Today I also thought about what was going on last year at this time.  I remember coming home from work this day last year and just not feeling well.  I felt like I could barely walk.  So I called the doctor and they said to stay home the following day for some bed rest and call to check in.  I still did not feel better on that Thursday when I called so they said they would see me that Friday.  Then tada 3 days later Olivia arrived! But the weather was about the same.  It was warm and sunny and just reminded me of when we waiting for Olivia to arrive.  It seems so long ago but it was only a year! Funny how time flies!

We wear shorts in March!

Grandma I am figuring out the vacuum.  Can't wait for your help!

Tried something new

Well we tried something new today.  We skipped the lunch bottle and tried to up the other bottles and have 3- 7 oz bottles.  It kinda worked.  It seemed like she didn't miss the lunch time bottle at all which was good.  But at dinner time she did not want the whole bottle but eventually took it all and at bed time she did not take the whole bottle which she does.  So tomorrow going to change it up again.  I am just hoping next week we get the go ahead for milk.  It may just make life a tad bit easier...we hope.

I am getting so big!

Rough Day

I don't know even where to begin..well let me see...it started with a cough this morning.  Olivia woke up with a little cough this morning.  Just a regular cough- not a barking or mucousy cough. One good thing about today is this time change thing is that Olivia is sleeping until about 8:00 a.m.  which is a bit of a bonus.  We ate breakfast and Olivia ate real banana! The trick is to coat them with Cheerio crumbs to make it easier for her to pick them up.  I called the doctor about 9:00 to see what they said about the runny nose and cough- they said unless the mucous turns yellow/green or the cough turns into a barking cough, she is ok or unless we think she has an ear infection.  So the morning went well until nap time.  There was lots of crying and fuss.  Finally Brendon got her down about 10:45.  We were supposed to go to Gymboree today but that didn't happen because Olivia just didn't want to eat lunch plus with the runny nose and cough I didn't want to spread it to any of the other babies.  We finally got her to take some of her bottle and ate a little lunch- some toast and yogurt.  She took a good afternoon nap and 4:45 bottle.  While she was napping I looked at the Similac website and they said for 9-12 months they should have 3 bottles a day with about 7-8 oz.  So I am thinking that maybe starting tomorrow we will skip that lunch bottle since it has been a hassle the past 2 days.  I am not sure if it is the time change, the stuffy nose, or else she is ready to transition to 3 bottles.  But even tonight she wasn't herself- she didn't want to eat her spaghetti and she cried after her bath which is not like her.

I know some days are better than others but this was one of those rough days.  I question myself sometimes if I am doing the right thing and figuring out a baby is mind boggling sometimes.  There is no instruction manual and everyone has different solutions. Being a mom isn't an easy job sometimes but I always have to look forward to tomorrow and to have a better day.

The only picture I got of her today!

Time Change

Well considering we turned the clocks forward last night, all went alright today.  She woke up with a runny nose though.  So we had some tears today while getting her nose wiped.  She wasn't the best eater today either.  She took about 4 oz of her morning bottle, lunch bottle, and pre-dinner bottle.  But she did take her whole night time bottle.  She wasn't the biggest eater at lunch but did good at dinner.  We even gave her a tiny piece of cake that I made today and she liked it.  We also think she is getting more teeth- she was chomping on everything that wasn't nailed down today! I felt the one coming in on top but I think there is another one coming in on the bottom.

We played outside twice today.  Once in the afternoon and then again before dinner.  Olivia just loves to look around.  She had a fun time watching Jake run around crazy.  Sorry I am not in any of the pictures- it was just that this mommy didn't get a shower today! Tomorrow Olivia gets a bonus day with mom because there is no school! Yippee!!

Olivia playing in the grass

Lots of outside time!

It was gorgeous outside today!!  We did some yard work and cut the grass (well the weeds).  Olivia went in her swing outside while we ate lunch outside.  Then after she ate lunch she came outside to play.  We played with the walking toys in the driveway and then on her own she went in the grass- there is a video of it- don't mind the grass cutting apparel!   She loved it.  She pushed the lion all over the place.  Brendon was doing the push mower and I swear she wanted to be like him and was trying to imitate him- we do have a Fisher Price lawn mower but she is not steady enough to push it- the arm on it is not fixed like her other push toys.  I even took off her shoes and she didn't mind the grass.  She even crawled, yes crawled on the driveway today.  We also blew some bubbles.  We stayed outside for almost and hour!! After her afternoon nap and bottle we went and hung out on the back porch.  Brendon and I love in the summer to sit on the back porch in the early evening.  A nice calmness comes and we enjoy watching the birds.  We tried some rice tonight and she seemed to like it.

Figured out her farm book today and started pressing the buttons

Spaghetti, Spaghetti

Jack Prelutsky says it best:

Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
You’re wonderful stuff.
I love you spaghetti
I can’t get enough.
You’re covered with sauce
And you’re sprinkled with cheese,
Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
Oh, give me some more please.

Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
Piled high in a mound,
You wiggle, you wriggle,
You squiggle around.
There’s slurpy spaghetti
All over my plate,
Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
I think you are great.

Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
I love you a lot.
You’re slishy, you’re sloshy,
Delicious and hot.
I gobble you down
Oh, I can’t get enough,
Spaghetti! Spaghetti!
You’re wonderful stuff.

Tonight Olivia tried spaghetti! Good stuff and she ate a whole bunch.  While making sure it was ok to feed her spaghetti I found these wonderful directions on how to feed your child spaghetti:

Step 1: Put the highchair out on the patio or grass.
Step 2: Put Baby in just a diaper.
Step 3: Cut up the spaghetti.
Step 4: Put Baby in highchair and let him stuff his little face.
Step 5: When Baby is done, brush off excess spaghetti.
Step 6: Hold Baby at arms length and go straight to the bathtub.
Step 7: Remove diaper and spray down Baby with shower head.
Step 8: Bathe accordingly and kiss those once-again clean cheeks.

I thought they were funny.  Olivia got messy but not too bad! Also there is a video and whenever I ask her if she is hungry or wants lunch she clicks her tongue.  I guess it is her way of saying she is hungry! Looks like the video posted before this...so it is after the post.

The spaghetti adventure... grandma and grandpa you will be proud- I guess your love of spaghetti got passed on to Olivia! If you didn't know, my parents REALLY love spaghetti...  A LOT. It was served once a week at our house.  I guess that is why I do not like spaghetti that much!
