Dear Olivia,
You are 3 years old big girl! We cannot believe it. You have grown so much since you were born on that nice, warm, spring day. You were so lucky because this year the weather was about the same as it was on the day you were born. You had a great party to celebrate with your friends.
This year you have refined much of your language and words. You talk in sentences, ask appropriate questions, and sometimes are so funny with the things you say. It is nice having conversations with you. Last week you started talking about opposites so I tried to think of some and you are really good at them- up/down, left/right, tall/small are just some of the ones you know!
You love a lot of things- drawing, painting, singing, and reading. I love to hear you make up your own version of stories that we have read and sing your own songs. You still love Lamby, who has endured a few surgeries and lots of washing but one day she will have to be retired or replaced but she is your best friend and you love her a whole lot. You love animals and love to walk with your daddy in the woods and go fishing. You can even reel in your own fish. You are not afraid to touch the fish either and even touched the worm!
You are so smart. You know your letters and numbers. One night we even counted to 100 and you have even done some simple skip counting by 10s. You know how to write your name (when you want to) and are starting to like to trace letters and numbers. You know how to play games on our computer- you love to play the PBSkids games. You have an assortment of apps to play too. Once we show you something, you catch on pretty quick. We have started playing games with you- Memory, Candyland, and Thomas the Train number game seem to be your favorites- and your new fishing game too!
In January you stopped going to Gymboree and Kindermusik but started going to some big girl classes- gymnastics and dance. You love going to them and can even do a forward roll and pull your feet up on the bars in gymnastics. You even showed me how to point your toes the other night! Plus you look so cute in your leotard and tutu!
We started potty training you. Even though some days are better than others we have stuck to keeping you in undies unless we are traveling or are not feeling well. You are stubborn about it sometimes and I will say it- pooping is not your favorite thing to do. You will hold it for days...I still can't figure out how. We have to even give you some medicine sometimes to help you go! One day (hopefully before PreK) we will get this down!
You are still a picky eater sometimes. You have gotten better since we had to basically food train you and make you try things. You even told me tonight my spaghetti was delicious! You love sweets especially cookies and M and Ms!
You had your first surgery to fix your tear ducts in February. Your eyes are no longer goopy! Hooray!
You really love and care for your friends. You talk daily about Griffin, Ethan, Emma, Emily, Leo, and Violet. But you understand they are your friends and that you play with them!
We did some traveling and you rode on an airplane for the first time and loved it. We went to the beach and you are still afraid of the ocean! You need to get over that really quick!!
Right now the world is so magical to you and we love it. The simplest things make you so happy which makes me happy. We hope that you continue to love life as much as you do now! We look forward to the great year of 3 and all that brings to us- love, laughter, fun, and I am sure tears (she IS 3 you know- we cry over little things)!
Love you to the moon and back,
Mommy and Daddy
