Ribbon Week at Gymnastics

It was ribbon week at gymnastics.  There are skills that Olivia is assessed on at gymnastics.  She did a great job today until they got to the bars.  She is still scared of them from the first time she went all the way around like a flip holding the bars.  So she cried! Just a few tears but they were very supportive and at least had her try.  But still... she cried! If she wouldn't have cried today then we could have been bumped up to the next level.  So we will do this session again and see if she will be ready in December.  She will be closer to being 4 so we will see!

Creativity

There is no doubt that Olivia is a big thinker.  She is constantly doing...something or as she says...nothing...  But here are some of her latest creative "projects."

Band-aids

Olivia has become obsessed with band-aids! Drove me nuts Saturday at the bike race...she had a minor boo boo and probably used at least 7-10 band-aids.  The other night she got out bed and got herself a band-aid.  Tonight while making my lunch and she was in bed...I heard those little feet and she was putting on band-aids on her thumb! Gee whiz!! It could be something worse and I know it is just a novelty for her! But driving us a bit crazy!!

Bike Race in the Mountains

This weekend we went up to the Georgia Mountains.  It was great weather, so pretty, and a much needed break after a long weekend of conferences.

The drive up wasn't too bad- typical Friday Atlanta traffic!! But once we got going towards the mountains the drive was great.  Olivia was a great passenger and we took a few potty stops.  We spent the night at Brendon's friends family cabin.  It was perfect.

We had dinner once we got there and then it was bed time.

The boys got up early and the girls stayed at the cabin for a bit and relaxed.  Then we went to the bike race.  It was the prefect weather up there.  Lots of sunshine but not too hot! The guys did great even though Brendon had a tumble and Jason had 2 flat tires.  Even though we didn't get on the podium we still had fun!

Pumpkin time!

Even though I love summer...fall has arrived.  Pumpkin coffee creamer arrived in our fridge last week and I made some pumpkin cookies today...yummy!

Olivia is already excited about Halloween and pumpkins!Such a fun time of the year!

Boo Boos and Bumps

Seems like we are on an accident prone 2 weeks.  Poor Olivia...she has so many boo boos!  She had 3 accidental things happen at daycare...bumped her head on the floor, then bit her lip hard because she thought I was at the door and was running, then again she was running and slipped and hit her chin.  When we were camping she tripped on one of the tent stakes...ker plop.  Then Tuesday she was running in the driveway and fell running up the driveway (She forgot the NO RUNNING in the driveway rule)- needless to say both knees and elbows look bad.  Then tonight I was cleaning her face after dinner and she decided to sit on the bar on the step stool...then ker plop...fell backwards on the bathroom floor and bumped her back! Then later tonight she walked right into the walk in the kitchen...lovely...poor thing...she looks like a hot mess! Hoping this is just a general klutziness and we stop getting boo boos!!

Tantrums

I guess turning 3 1/2 comes with tantrums! BIG TIME! We have had some mega meltdowns the past 2 nights.  Yesterday it was when we got home and she needed to take her shoes off and put them away- which she knows how to do, AND does often.  Big screaming, yelling, crying and being mean to me!  Today it was worse than yesterday...it was over getting ready for dance class and going potty.  I don't know what is going with her.  I know part of it is she wants to spend time with me since she is not with me during the day anymore.  But man it is craziness.  I am hoping it gets better because I may not survive her being 3 1/2 years old!
